Hello, I’m Sam!<\/p>\n

I’m the 4th generation nurse in my family. Mum was an Enrolled Nurse, My Nana was a nurse after the war years, and my great Grandmother was a nurse with the Red Cross. It must run in the blood!<\/p>\n

Having been a Registered Nurse for 18 years, I have experience in several diverse fields, including primary health, palliative & medical care.<\/p>\n

I am compassionate, understanding & able to form solid professional relationships with friendliness & open communication.<\/p>\n

I will always endeavour to facilitate safe & supportive environments where my clients can thrive.
\nI am married with 2 beautiful children & several pets. I enjoy reading & sewing.
\nBy being creative, I can present innovative solutions to help people overcome challenges & reach their goals. I also love animals & a good chat over coffee! (also I don’t mind a fancy dress party!)<\/p>\n

I find support work & nursing incredibly rewarding & look forward to making a positive difference in peoples lives.<\/p>\n

Growing up, I was told on numerous occasions that I couldn’t do nursing. I am deaf. I have worn hearing aids for my entire life. Being a bit stubborn, I set out to prove I could. And after overcoming my own set of hurdles, I graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing in 2005.<\/p>\n

I did a postgraduate program at Coffs Harbour Health Campus, gaining experience in Paediatrics, Medical Ward\/High Dependency and commuted to Dorrigo Hospital for rural experience in a small hospital setting. Dorrigo had a small emergency room, a few acute-care beds, and a nursing home attached to the hospital. After working at Coffs Harbour for 2 and a half years, I decided to move back to Murwillumbah to be closer to family.<\/p>\n

I then secured a position at Tweed Heads Hospital in the Medical 2\/Palliative Care Ward. This was a very rewarding experience. Nursing patients who needed end-of-life care and communicating with grieving families was both a difficult and enlightening role.<\/p>\n

I found that I was able to build up a great rapport with the majority of patients, and I stayed for about 3 years. I worked with an amazing team who taught me a lot, including how to lead a ward as an in-charge nurse.<\/p>\n

I always had a passion for community nursing, particularly after doing some work experience in the community and at practices during my University training.<\/p>\n

I found a wonderful position at Queen Street Medical Centre in Murwillumbah. I learned a very different style of nursing, with a great team of Receptionists, GPs and Nurses. I have gained experience in procedure nursing, sterilisation, care planning, health assessments, and wound care (to name a few). I have been there for more than 15 years![\/vc_column_text][\/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=”What am I doing now?”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1776057310050{padding-bottom: 10px !important;}”]Fast forward to today!<\/p>\n

I decided to extend my Nursing repertoire to serve more clients in the community. I am dedicated and will strive to help my clients achieve their personal goals. Not only do I love nursing, but I love other forms of support work, including IT support, creative therapy and social connection.<\/p>\n

I am currently studying a Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Wound Care. I also have a Certificate 2 in Information Technology, Certificate 4 in Multimedia & Certificate 2 in Auslan.<\/p>\n

I plan to further my studies in Auslan down the track. This is very special to me, as while I was growing up, I befriended several profoundly deaf people at deaf camps. I always wished I were able to have a better conversation with them and include them in all conversations. I now feel confident enough to have a basic conversation in Auslan. I would love to practice my skills on anyone patient enough![\/vc_column_text][\/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=”What are my fees?”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1776057096026{padding-bottom: 10px !important;}”]I offer a free meet and greet to all new clients. Let’s get to know one another before we decide to move forward. If you feel I would be a good fit for your care & support team, we will then discuss and finalise fees in our Service Agreement.<\/p>\n

All NDIS fees are in line with the NDIS pricing arrangements. My nursing fees will reflect the type of nursing services I am required to attend.<\/p>\n

An indicative hourly rate for Nursing Service on a weekday is $92\/hour<\/p>\n

My indicative hourly rate for support services on a weekday is $65\/hour.<\/p>\n
